Produce and Asthma

by Berkeley Wellness

If you have asthma, eating lots of vegetables and fruits may help reduce symptoms. In a recent Australian study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 137 adults with asthma ate either a high-antioxidant diet (including five servings of vegetables and two servings of fruit a day) or a low-antioxidant diet for two weeks.

Those in the high-antioxidant group had better lung function and were less likely to have symptoms worsen than the low-antioxidant group.

Most studies on antioxidant supplements and asthma have produced disappointing results.
