Prevent Whiplash

by Berkeley Wellness  |

To prevent whiplash, properly adjust the head restraint on your car seat.

It should be positioned so that it sits as near your head as possible—no farther than three inches from the back of your head and no lower than three inches below the top—in order to limit movement of the head and neck in case of a crash.

You may have to adjust your seat back to get the restraint in the right place. Many people call the restraints “head rests,” but they are there for safety, not comfort.
