So found a recent study in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, which included 49 people (ages 42 to 73) who had undergone such procedures as face- and brow-lifts and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). Volunteers who reviewed before and after photos thought the patients looked only three years younger, overall, after surgery than they did before. In addition, the surgery had no significant effect on ratings of attractiveness, even after the researchers controlled for the patients’ ages and type of procedure.
