Turkey Burgers

by Berkeley Wellness

There are endless variations to burgers—they basically should have ground meat, something that extends the meat and binds it, plus flavoring, seasoning and fresh herbs. You can play with levels of spice or change the flavors depending on how sweet or savory you like your food.

Directions

1. Place 1 pound lean ground turkey breast in a bowl. Add 1 cup chopped mushrooms, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage, and 1/4 cup fresh parsley—finely chopped.

2. Shape into 4 patties. Cook in a covered nonstick skillet with 1/4 cup water and 2 teaspoons reduced-sodium soy sauce for 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Or broil 4 inches from the heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side.

Makes 4 servings.
