What Is a 'Wine Product'?

by Berkeley Wellness

Many people are fooled by this impostor—until they taste it and see “wine product” in small print. The bottle looks like wine, and the label may even have the name of a chateau on it, but it is more like wine cooler—cheap wine diluted with fruit juice, water, flavorings, sugar, and other stuff—with about half the alcohol content of real wine.

In recent years many states that restrict the sale of wine only to liquor stores have allowed supermarkets, delis, and some other stores to sell wine products. Read the labels to see what you're getting.
