The Skinny on 2% Milk

by Berkeley Wellness

Don’t think that 2% milk is much lower in fat or calories than whole milk. Sometimes called “reduced-fat” milk, it has only about one-third less fat and one-fifth fewer calories than whole milk, which is typically 3.25% fat.

It’s the default milk used at Starbucks for espresso-based beverages. But a “grande” (16 ounces) caffè latte made with 2% milk still has 190 calories and 7 grams of fat (versus 220 calories and 11 grams of fat when made with whole milk). Meanwhile, a grande latte made with nonfat milk has 130 calories and no fat.

None of those numbers include added sugar or whipped cream.
