Protect Children from This Poisoning Risk

by Berkeley Wellness

If you have small children in the house, keep laundry detergent pods in a locked cabinet or else use traditional detergent. U.S. poison control centers received reports of more than 17,000 children under age six who bit into the pods or swallowed their contents in 2012-13, according to a study published in December 2014 in the journal Pediatrics.

Two-thirds of the poisonings occurred in one- and two-year-olds. The small, colorful pods usually come in easy-to-open, see-through bags and may look like candy or juice to young kids.
